Desalination as a Key Solution

Desalination is an essential solution, especially for arid regions. However, it relies on innovation to address its shortcomings and deploy in harmony with marine life. “Every drop of fresh water produced must not come at the expense of our oceans,” asserts Hervé de Lanversin, co-founder of Seawards.

The Limits of Current Methods

Conventional desalination methods, such as reverse osmosis or thermal distillation, consume enormous amounts of energy. This energy primarily comes from non-renewable sources, thus contributing to the increase of greenhouse gas emissions.

Meanwhile, desalination generates significant amounts of brine, a byproduct rich in salt and chemicals, which is discharged into the ocean. For every liter of fresh water produced, about 1.5 liters of concentrated brine are released. In 2023, the 22,000 desalination plants worldwide produced 55 billion cubic meters of pollutant discharges, enough to cover France with a 10 cm layer.

Seawards: A Sustainable Solution

“Innovation is key to combining efficiency and environmental respect, and it is with this conviction that we are rethinking desalination for a sustainable future,” confirms Hubert Montcoudiol, co-founder of Seawards.

Seawards is committed to providing an effective, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly industrial alternative, rejecting no polluting products. With innovative technology, it strives to protect marine ecosystems while ensuring sustainable access to fresh water.

A Harmonious Future Between Technology and Environment

By adopting clean and energy-efficient desalination methods, Seawards’ partners, global water players, offer a sustainable solution for the future. Together, we can meet tomorrow’s environmental challenges while preserving marine biodiversity.
