Nicolas Zanese, CTO of Seawards, is part of an 8-strong team, with two new arrivals planned between now and March, based in Pertuis. His challenge is to develop the cryoseparation technology and ensure the quality of working life for a multi-skilled team.

The Seawards team has been built up over a long period of time, with the support of a team of professionals. A large part of this team is focused on R&D and the development of cryoseparation technology. Engineers, PhDs and other multi-skilled profiles are involved in thermal, energy and mechanical engineering, as well as environmental and microbiology issues. “Each of them chose to join Seawards, motivated by the environmental issues at stake and the desire to work for a noble cause”, explains Nicolas Zanese, CTO of Seawards. The disruptive aspect of the technology, innovative compared to other seawater desalination solutions, is also a driving force. Each time an employee is brought on board, a new organization is required. We don’t manage 10 people the same way as 3, but our scale now enables us to work efficiently while understanding and respecting each other’s needs and challenges. This is one of the advantages of being a start-up: reinventing the way we work and ensuring quality of life and collective well-being at work”.

“Our team is now able to focus on the challenges of developing new technology and finding the right solutions for every R&D problem”.

The sinews of war? Maintaining a stimulating, studious atmosphere in a team whose average age is around 30, and which has found its bearings on the site of the Pertuis innovative business incubator network.

“Eventually, we have to move to install the prototype in a seaside location, around Marseille, facing normal operating conditions with direct access to the sea”. The next step is to set up a demonstrator and develop our partnership policy around the world.

“We are aware of the challenges that lie ahead. We’re going to meet them!”
