Seawards : an innovative response to water challenges
ADEME and France 2030 support the Seawards project, a promising initiative in response to the fresh water crisis. The INNOV EAU program launched by ADEME aims to support innovative initiatives in the water sector by encouraging the development of solutions that improve the management, distribution, and use of this precious resource.
Seawater desalination : a sustainable solution
The demand for drinking water worldwide is becoming increasingly urgent. In 2020, 2.2 billion people globally suffered from water scarcity, and this number is expected to reach 3 billion after 2025. With nearly half of the world’s population living today within 100 km of the sea, seawater desalination appears as a natural response to these global challenges, providing secure and sustainable access to an unlimited water resource for the greatest number.
Seawards : a promising project
Existing desalination solutions, such as distillation or membrane treatment (reverse osmosis), have a very negative ecological impact and, due to their high costs, are accessible only to a minority of financially capable countries. Seanergy, a young French startup founded in 2021, aims to change this situation through its commitment to industrializing an innovative seawater desalination method under the Seawards brand, the only effective and clean alternative to currently operating methods that can be deployed for the benefit of many.
