The COP28, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 13, 2023, played host to several French companies, including Seawards, who joined the delegation with BpiFrance. This was a valuable opportunity to showcase their technology and advocate for their commitment to providing world-wide clean water access.

It was like a world within a world! Our journey to COP28 in the United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 13, 2023, opened doors to countless connections, exciting prospects, and meaningful human encounters,” explains Hervé de Lanversin, co-founder of Seawards alongside Hubert Montcoudiol.

The leadership team of this Marseille-based startup made the trip to Dubai to present the merits and potential of cryo-separation, a groundbreaking technology currently making waves from Marseille and Pertuis, where its demonstrator is set up.

A global impact

This event, with widespread impact, encourages a global and salutary mobilization.

This event, with widespread impact, encourages a global and salutary mobilization of decision-makers from all horizons, for the future of the planet. With over 100,000 participants, it is the largest COP ever organized. Governments, local authorities and civil society (NGOs, businesses, scientists, etc.) gathered for almost two weeks to draw up the first global assessment of the Paris Agreement (COP21). In France, public authorities are delighted with this historic agreement, dubbed the “United Arab Emirates Consensus”, which commits all 195 parties to phasing out fossil fuels, and resolutely affirms the 1.5 degree objective.

In response to the acceleration of climate change and intensification of damage put upon the most vulnerable countries, is the “loss and damage” fund launched last year at COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, which on its first day attracted initial contributions totalling over 700 million dollars. In detail, it will enable the most vulnerable countries, victims of climate disasters – rising sea levels, droughts, cyclones, etc. – to access the financing needed to rebuild.

An immersive experience in the heart of the system

At the heart of this event, Seawards, immersed in the Bpifrance ecosystem under the French Pavilion, with the support of Business France and the UAE CCI, showcased the advantages of its innovation, energy savings, agility and ability to respond to the problems of water stress facing the planet in all territories, for the greatest number of people. It was a marathon tour that not only led to fruitful exchanges, but also to a host of new contacts and encounters!

An enriching and hopeful experience for the future!
